Her frail condition was heartbreaking. Local individuals had placed her in a barn for a few days, providing minimal food, believing this would be enough to “cure” her. However, it was clear that she needed urgent medical attention. Determined to help, we covered the gas expenses for a transporter to bring her to an emergency veterinarian in Corpus Christi, TX. We named her Trinity, symbolizing her strength and resilience.
Upon examination, Trinity’s condition was dire. Her body mass index was below 1, indicating extreme malnourishment. She was severely anemic, and her right hind leg bore no weight. To make matters worse, her front leg had an old fracture that hadn’t healed properly. The vet revealed that she likely hadn’t eaten in a very long time. The severe flea infestation had left her dangerously dehydrated and anemic, leading the medical team to recommend a blood transfusion. Trinity’s journey toward recovery would need to begin delicately, with small portions of specially prepared food introduced gradually to avoid shocking her fragile system.
Despite her dire condition, the veterinary staff described Trinity as extraordinarily sweet and full of determination to live. Her will to survive shone through every interaction.
